The suspect in the murder of 25-year-old Dilara Günana, whose lifeless body was found buried on Mother's Day after going missing in Elazığ, confessed to the crime during the first hearing. The defendant stated that he shot Günana in the head and then wrapped the body in a blanket, transported it with a donkey, and buried it.
On May 4, 2024, in Elazığ, 25-year-old Dilara Günana, a mother of one, went missing and was found buried in the village of Sedeftepe, affiliated with the center, eight days later on Mother's Day. The first hearing of the case regarding her murder was held at the Elazığ 4th High Criminal Court.
CONFESSED THE MURDER IN COURT
During the hearing, the detained suspect V.K. attended along with his father Y.K., mother N.K., and brother S.K., who were also being tried for complicity in the crime. The victim's family and lawyers were also present at the hearing. The suspect V.K. confessed to the murder in his statement at the court.
TRANSPORTED AND BURIED THE BODY WITH A DONKEY
V.K. stated that he met Günana six months ago and that they had an emotional relationship. He recounted that on the day of the incident, the woman called him in the morning to say she would come to the village. V.K. claimed that he could not digest Günana's words and shot her in the head from a distance of about 25 meters. The suspect V.K. then said that when he realized the woman was dead, he took a shovel from their under-construction house, first hid the body under a stone, then wrapped it in a blanket and traveled for about an hour with a donkey to bury it in a three-meter-deep pit previously dug by treasure hunters in the Armutluk area of Sedeftepe village, poured lime over the body, and returned to the village around 2:00 AM.
ACQUIRED A SECRET WEAPON AFTER THEIR GUNS WERE CONFISCATED
Additionally, the suspect V.K. stated that law enforcement had confiscated their guns due to an incident that occurred in the village. V.K. expressed that he secretly acquired a weapon from his family about six months ago and that no family members were aware of the weapon he used in the murder.
HEARING ADJOURNED
The court adjourned the hearing to September 29 for the completion of deficiencies.
