Opposition Attacks Kill 30 Regime Troops İn Syria

At least 30 Syrian regime troops were killed in clashes with the main armed opposition group Free Syrian Army on Friday.



Salih Anadani, the media liaison for the armed al-Tawhid Brigade, told Anadolu Agency that the Free Syrian Army carried out military operations in the regime-held parts of Aleppo.



"Assad's forces fired rockets and used tanks to protect themselves against armed opposition fighters," said Anadani.



He said opposition fighters used tunnels to approach regime-held checkpoints and blow up trenches.



Anadani added the clashes also led to the death of many opposition fighters.



Aleppo, Syria's second city, is regarded as an opposition stronghold in the country's civil war, which entered its fourth year in March.



In three years, it killed over 100,000 people and created 2.5 million refugees, the U.N. says.
