The case brought to court by the mutual complaints of actor Ozan Güven and Deniz Bulutsuz, who were once together, has concluded. The court announced its decision in the fifth year of the process that began in 2020.
PARTIAL SENTENCE, PARTIAL ACQUITTAL FROM THE COURT
According to a report by Sabah, during the verdict hearing held at the Istanbul 58th Criminal Court of First Instance, Ozan Güven was sentenced to 1 year and 15 months in prison for the crime of "Intentional Injury." Güven was acquitted of the charges of "Insult" and "Deprivation of Liberty." Deniz Bulutsuz was also acquitted of the charge of "Simple Injury" against her.
THE PROCESS STARTED IN 2020
In July 2020, Deniz Bulutsuz reported to the prosecutor's office, claiming that Ozan Güven had physically assaulted her. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office filed a lawsuit against Güven, demanding a total of 13 years and 6 months in prison for three separate crimes.
CONTROVERSIAL REQUESTS AT THE VERDICT HEARING
Only the lawyers of the parties attended the verdict hearing. The prosecution reiterated its previous opinion, while Bulutsuz's lawyer requested additional time for the defense. Ozan Güven's lawyer stated that the aneurysm developed due to the head trauma his client experienced was not taken into account and requested a referral to forensic medicine.
THE COURT REJECTED ADDITIONAL TIME REQUESTS
The court rejected the new referral requests due to the existing forensic reports in the file, citing that the opinion was given in February as a reason for rejecting the additional time requests. Before the decision, the lawyers of the parties requested acquittal for their clients.
Announcing its decision, the court sentenced Ozan Güven to 1 year and 15 months in prison for the crime of "Intentional Injury," and acquitted him of the charges of "Insult" and "Deprivation of Liberty." Deniz Bulutsuz was also acquitted of the charge of "Simple Injury" against her.
