Two young people who arrived on a flight from Istanbul have been arrested by anti-terror officers at Britain's largest airport, Heathrow.
West Midlands Police said on Wednesday the married couple were detained the night before as they were getting off a flight from the Turkish capital.
The 20-year-old man and 19-year-old woman remain in custody in the West Midlands and are being questioned on suspicion of preparing for acts of terrorism, police said.
Police also said the couple's arrest was planned and "intelligence-led".
The British government says up to 500 Britons have traveled abroad to take part in fighting in Syria and Iraq, and that more than 200 of them have been arrested on their return to the U.K. on suspicion of terrorism, mainly connected to Syria.
