ISLAMABAD (AA) – Pakistan's government on Wednesday told a special court trying General Pervez Musharraf for high treason that the former president acted alone in deciding to impose a state of emergency in 2007. The information was in an inquiry report prepared by the Federal Investigation Agency submitted to the court by chief prosecutor Akram Shaikh.Musharraf had claimed that he had made the decision based on discussions with then Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz as well as senior civil and military officials.Ibrahim Satti, one of 18 defense lawyers for Musharraf, had said Tuesday that the former army chief had imposed the state of emergency based on his own understanding of the constitution, contradicting Musharraf's claims.Musharraf has previously requested all those who had advised him to also be tried for high treason. Most of his former comrades, including the then Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, cabinet members, and federal secretaries have already disassociated themselves with Musharraf's decision to impose emergency.
