A Pakistani soldier was killed Friday in a cross-border attack on a military check-post in northwestern Bajaur Agency that sits on the Afghan border, officials said.
Pakistani army's Inter Services Public Relations agency said militants loyal to Pakistani Taliban was responsible for the attack.
Six attackers were also killed in crossfire, officials said.
This is the second cross-border attack on Pakistani security forces over the last three days. Pakistan on Wednesday had summoned Afghanistan's senior diplomat to lodge protest over the "growing" cross-border attacks by the militants.
The Pakistani Taliban militants have launched frequent attacks on the Pakistani security forces in Kunar and Nuristan provinces for the last five years.
The Pakistani army has claimed to have killed over 500 militants since June 15, when it launched a much-demanded military onslaught, primarily against the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan network of Taliban groups.
