Palestinian Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdullah and his cabinet will visit the Gaza Strip following the Muslim Eid al-Adha, which will start on Saturday, a Palestinian minister said Monday.
"Al-Hamdullah and his government ministers will visit the Gaza Strip following the Eid al-Adha," Minister of Public Works and Housing Mufeed al-Hassayna told Al-Quds television channel.
He said that the unity government has encountered many problems since its formation in June.
"The unity government has not failed to shoulder its responsibility, but rather it has encountered big problems and is working under Israeli siege," he said.
On Thursday, Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas agreed to implement the terms of a reconciliation agreement signed in April that paved the way for the formation of a national unity government that was unveiled in June.
The reconciliation bid aimed at mending fences between the two groups after seven years of divisions which had led to the establishment of two separate seats of government in the West Bank and Gaza after Hamas routed troops loyal to Abbas and assumed control over the Gaza Strip in 2007.
