The incident occurred on Sunday, July 27, at around 16:45 at the Sarıyer Hacıosman Metro Station. According to the information obtained, citizens who saw a person in a rabbit costume carrying a rifle boarding the metro recorded the moment with their mobile phone cameras. After the footage was shared on social media, the Istanbul Police Department teams evaluated the incident as a report and began working to capture the person who boarded the metro.
TEAMS CAPTURED HIM QUICKLY
In the investigation, it was learned that the suspect, identified as 15-year-old A.Y., had gone from Hacıosman Metro Station towards Cumhuriyet Neighborhood. A.Y. was caught wearing a mask at the metro station on Araba Yolu Street as a result of the teams' follow-up.
THE RIFLE TURNED OUT TO BE A TOY
Investigations revealed that the rifle in A.Y.'s hand was a 'toy wooden rifle', and the mask was a 'toy rabbit mask'. Legal proceedings have been initiated against A.Y. for the crime of 'deliberately endangering public safety'. The investigation regarding the incident is ongoing.
