Four Americans and two international peacekeepers have been injured in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula by an improvised bomb, the Pentagon said Thursday.
The soldiers were airlifted to a medical facility, and are currently receiving medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries, Pentagon spokesman Capt. Jeff Davis said in a statement.
He did not say who was suspected of carrying out the attacks, but the area has seen an uptick in extremist attacks, most notably by Daesh's regional affiliate, Wilayat Sinai, or Province of Sinai, a group formerly known as Ansar Beit al-Maqdis.
The Multinational Force and Observer peacekeepers are in the region to supervise the implementation of the 1979 cease-fire between Israel and Egypt.
