Pflp Denounces Saudi-Led Airstrikes İn Yemen

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a component of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), has denounced an ongoing Saudi-led military campaign against the Shiite Houthi militant group in Yemen.



"What is taking place in Yemen carries potential dangers on the whole region," the leftist PFLP said in a statement on Sunday.



"This aggression, which is backed by America, is considered interference in Yemen's internal affairs."



The Palestinian group went on to urge Yemeni forces to reach a peaceful settlement through dialogue.



The PFLP's position contrasts with that of the Palestinian Authority (PA), which was supportive of the offensive.



Several Arab states have joined the Saudi-led offensive which kicked off late last Wednesday with a string of airstrikes against the positions of the Houthi group in Yemen, including some in capital Sanaa.



Saudi Arabia said the strikes were in response to calls by embattled President ABD Rabbuh Mansour Hadi for military intervention to "save the people from the Houthi militias."



The Gulf countries accuse Shiite Iran of supporting the Houthis, who had sought to extend their influence in Yemen after having seized Sanaa late last year.
