In an operation conducted at three separate addresses in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, a 2-meter long and 15-centimeter wide leather Torah manuscript dating back 1,200 years to the Roman period was seized, along with 550 coins from the Ancient Greek Pontus Amisos period and 51 coins from the Byzantine period. A total of 6 individuals, including 3 suspects who were attempting to sell the Torah for 1.5 million dollars, were taken into custody during the operation.

The Eyüpsultan District Gendarmerie Command teams began tracking two networks involved in the smuggling of historical artifacts. The gendarmerie teams took action after obtaining information that the suspects were looking for customers to sell the historical artifacts they had abroad. During the operations, 6 suspects were detained, and searches revealed a 2-meter long, 15-centimeter wide Torah manuscript on leather dating back 1,200 years from the Roman period, 2 hammers, 1 storage box, 550 coins from the Ancient Greek Pontus Amisos period, 51 coins from the Byzantine period, 15 objects, and 2 rings. The 6 suspects detained during the operation were referred to the courthouse after their statements were taken and legal procedures were completed. The 6 suspects brought to court were released under judicial control. It was learned that the suspects were trying to sell the Torah for 1.5 million dollars.
