A police officer was shot dead Monday and two others were injured in an attack by suspected Al-Shabaab militants in Kenya's north-eastern Wajir city.
"One police reservist was killed in the attack," Wajir County Commissioner Naftali Mung'athia told The Anadolu Agency.
"He was guarding one of the private hospitals in town and had been in the company of two other officers when the attack occurred," he said.
According to Mung'athia, gunmen stole three guns from the officers before escaping the scene.
Kenya has recently been hit by a spate of attacks blamed on Al-Shabaab, which demands that Nairobi withdraw its troops – first deployed in 2011 – from neighboring Somalia.
Wajir neighbors Mandera county where 64 people were recently killed in two attacks claimed by Al-Shabaab.
