President Erdoğan's statement is as follows: "I extend my best wishes to all our citizens affected by the earthquake measuring 6.2 that occurred today in the Sea of Marmara and was felt in Istanbul and surrounding provinces."
As part of our efforts that began immediately after the earthquake, we just held a comprehensive meeting at the AFAD Istanbul Provincial Disaster Management.
In our meeting, our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, our Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, our Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, our Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, our Governor of Istanbul Davut Gül, and relevant bureaucrats were present.
In the coordination meeting, we received the latest information, evaluated the steps taken and to be taken to minimize the effects of the earthquake. We issued the necessary instructions for the upcoming process.
As a result of our search and rescue activities conducted since noon, there appears to be no serious situation in the cities where the earthquake was felt, thank God. Fortunately, we have not had any loss of life due to the earthquake.
Our citizens should remain at ease. As a state, we will continue to be on alert 24/7 with all our units and work for our nation.
Once again, I wish all our brothers and sisters well.
May my Lord protect our country and nation from all kinds of calamities, disasters, accidents, and troubles.
