Pro-Morsi Bloc Calls For Fresh Protests On Friday

An alliance backing ousted president Mohamed Morsi on Thursday called for staging protests outside the homes of the dead victims of a year of political violence in Egypt, starting from Friday.



"Go out with strength and determination starting from Friday," the National Alliance for the Defense of Legitimacy said in a statement.



It called for weeklong demonstrations starting from Friday. The alliance said the backers of the ousted president should make August 14 the highest point of their anger.



Hundreds of Morsi's supporters were killed and thousands of others were injured on August 14 last year when the authorities violently dispersed two pro-Morsi sit-ins in Cairo and Giza.   



In its statement, the alliance described August 14, 2013 as a "Holocaust".



It said the next Muslim minor feast, which follows the holy fasting month of Ramadan, must be specified for "martyrs", saying this event must be dedicated to those whose blood was shed because they demanded freedom.
