Europe is faced with the largest influx of refugees since the end of World War II, and the crisis is seen as a challenge to the EU Schengen area, as some member states introduced border controls within the area.
Over the past months, most of the refugees have entered Europe's borderless Schengen area from Hungary, heading to Germany for a better life, but only small part of the refugees applied for asylum in Austria.
The right-wing parties seems to be getting stronger due to the crisis in Austrian regional elections, as political parties are scheduled to compete in the upcoming mayor election in Vienna on Oct. 11.
The protesters also called for a Europe without wall along the border. (Cihan/Xinhua)
