Protests that began in the United States are rapidly spreading. The Mayor of Los Angeles imposed a nighttime curfew to protect the city on the sixth day of the protests. Hundreds of people have been arrested in similar protests across the country. President Trump announced that stricter measures would be taken against the demonstrations. Currently, 4,000 National Guard troops are deployed in California.

The Mayor of Los Angeles imposed a nighttime curfew to protect the city on the sixth day of the protests. Anti-Trump and anti-immigrant demonstrations are also being held in major cities like New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Philadelphia.
Los Angeles police arrested 197 people on Wednesday. Hundreds have been arrested in similar protests across the country.
The curfew started at 8:00 PM. Soldiers are patrolling the area and arresting those who do not comply with the curfew. Mayor Karen Bass stated that the curfew was implemented due to the increasing looting incidents.
President Trump announced that stricter measures would be taken against the protests. According to MSNBC, Trump plans to send ICE units to New York, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Northern Virginia.
Currently, 4,000 National Guard soldiers are on duty in California. Additionally, 700 Marines will begin patrolling the city on Wednesday.
Although most of the protests have been peaceful, Trump stated, "The rioters in Los Angeles cannot stop us."
The Secretary of Defense announced that this operation would cost $134 million.
California officials criticize Trump's call for the National Guard. Governor Gavin Newsom accused Trump of only satisfying his own ego and filed a lawsuit against this decision.
The tension between Trump and Newsom is escalating. While Trump finds Newsom "inadequate," Newsom mocked Trump's response to the protests with a Star Wars-themed video.
