The Presidency's Communication Directorate's Disinformation Combat Center announced that claims regarding the establishment of a new district named 'Yenişehir' around Istanbul Airport are false.
The Presidency of the Communications Directorate's Disinformation Combat Center (DMM) announced that the claims regarding the establishment of a new district in Istanbul under the name 'New City', covering the route of Kanal Istanbul and the area around Istanbul Airport, are not true.
In a statement made from DMM's account on NSosyal, it was noted that the claims in question, which appeared in some media outlets and social media accounts, are false and speculative in nature, aimed at misleading the public.
"THERE IS NO WORK BY ANY INSTITUTIONS"
In the statement, it was reminded that according to Article 2 of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442, the establishment, abolition, determination of centers, and name changes of provinces and districts, as well as the connection of one district to another province, can only be done by law. The statement continued:
"As stated in the news, the Ministry of Interior or any other institution does not have any work regarding the establishment of a new district in Istanbul. The public is strongly urged not to trust speculative content whose accuracy has not been verified and to rely solely on information verified by authorized institutions for accurate information."
