Retired Italian Football Giant Faces Tax İnvestigation

Retired Italian football giant Fabio Cannavaro is under investigation for suspected tax evasion, Italian press reports said Wednesday.



Italian tax inspectors are said to be particularly keen on looking into a property valued at €900,000 that Cannavaro said he earned from his luxury yacht renting company.



The Italian prosecution office said the investigation would cover the years between 2005 and 2010.



During his football career, the Italian centre-back played for many Italian clubs, including Inter, Juventus, Parma, Napoli and Spanish giants Real Madrid.



Cannavaro was the captain of the Italian national football team that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup, a tournament in which he was also named the FIFA World Player of the Year.
