The Finance Ministry, which has carried out numerous controversial tax audits to impose heavy fines on companies whose owners are known for their critical stance against the government, has abolished the written exam obligation for the recruitment of new revenue specialists, a move which is perceived as an attempt to facilitate the employment of pro-government people as tax auditors. The Official Gazette on Wednesday listed a change in regulations allowing for the recruitment of revenue specialists to the Finance Ministry's Revenues Administration (GİB) via oral interviews alone, stirring great discontent among those who were preparing for the exams. The issue was one of the hot topics on social media discussion platforms on Wednesday and Thursday. One candidate for an inspector position at the ministry wrote: “Make a legislation that states that only the members or relatives of the members of the ruling party are accepted to the Finance Ministry and we will no longer need to worry again over whether we will be admitted.” Under the current system, the GİB organizes a proficiency examination for those who received more than a certain score in the State Personnel Examination (KPSS). In the next stage, oral interviews are conducted with the top scorers of the proficiency examination. Under the new system, the GİB will be satisfied with just success in the KPSS.
