A surprise arrest warrant was issued for a name related to the case in which lawyer Rezan Epözdemir is being tried in custody. Former prosecutor Cengiz Çallı, who is alleged to have facilitated bribery for Epözdemir and is being tried in the same case, was arrested by the court during the hearing.
Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, who was detained on August 10 under two separate investigations initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "bribery," "aiding the FETÖ/PDY armed terrorist organization," and "political and military espionage," was arrested on August 14 on the charge of "facilitating bribery."
APPEARED BEFORE THE JUDGE
The first hearing of the case against lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, who is accused of "facilitating bribery," was held at the 5th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation. The request for his release was denied, and it was decided that Epözdemir would remain in custody.
FORMER PROSECUTOR ARRESTED
According to information provided by journalist Emrullah Erdinç, it was announced that former prosecutor Cengiz Çallı, who is also being tried in the same case and is alleged to have facilitated Epözdemir's receipt of bribes, was arrested during the hearing.
