Two army troops were killed and one injured in a roadside blast in northwestern Pakistani town of Bannu, the host of around one million displaced persons from restless North Waziristan, officials said Sunday.
A senior security official told the Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity that the roadside blast struck a security patrolling vehicle in Baran Dam area of Bannu, killing two troops on the spot.
This has put the death toll of army troops in ongoing military operation against Taliban militants in North Waziristan to 91 since June 15.
Over 1200 suspected militants have also been killed in the ongoing onslaught over the last 3 months. The figures however cannot be verified due to absence of independent media in the operation-hit areas.
