Romanian literature will be under the spotlight at this year's İstanbul International Book Fair, which will unroll its 34th edition on Nov. 7-15, its organizers announced this week.

The guest country program will take place during the first four days of the nine-day event, bringing book lovers in İstanbul together with contemporary authors from Romania, including Mircea Cartarescu, who was put forward by Romania for the Nobel Prize in Literature, and Matei Visniec, the İstanbul-based TÜYAP Fair and Exhibition Organization Inc. said in a press release issued on Wednesday.

Guest country events at the fair are expected to include panel discussions and interviews with Romanian authors, poetry recitals, live music performances and meetings between representatives of the Turkish and Romanian publishing industries.

The 34th İstanbul Book Fair, to be held under the main theme “Humor: Looking at Life with a Smile,” will also dedicate a special section to the late Turkish satirist Aziz Nesin, whose 100th anniversary of birth is being marked throughout 2015. The program will offer a chance to take a closer look at Nesin's literary persona through an exhibition about his life and work as well as talks and panel discussions with fellow authors.

The full program of events at the fair and the list of participating authors will be announced at a press conference to be held in early September.
