A senior Russian security official arrived in Cairo Sunday evening for talks with President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, a source at Cairo International Airport has said.
Nikolai Patrushev, who leads the Kremlin's Security Council, arrived on a private airplane with his delegation to Cairo airport, the source, requesting anonymity, told The Anadolu Agency.
Patrushev will stay in Cairo for two days where he and his delegation will meet with several Egyptian officials including al-Sisi, according to the Egyptian Presidency.
A day earlier, the Presidency said that Faiza Abul Naga, al-Sisi's adviser for security affairs, had invited Patrushev to visit Cairo.
It also said that Patrushev would meet with al-Sisi during the visit.
Patrushev's arrival comes one day after Egyptian Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi landed in Moscow to discuss security cooperation with Russian officials during a several-day visit.
Sunday's visit also comes less than a month after Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Egypt.
