Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed import duties regulation on Ukrainian goods, warning the taxes will be imposed if Ukraine starts to implement an Ukraine-EU Association Agreement before January 2016.
Medvedev told the Sochi International Investment Forum in the Russian coastal resort city on Friday: "I would like to remind people that we have agreed with Ukraine and the commissioners of the European Union that the EU-Ukraine Association Program's trade and economic parts will be suspended until January 2016.
"We cannot allow European goods disguised as cheap Ukrainian goods to be offered to our market while Ukraine still carries on business within the framework of The Commonwealth of Independent States free-trade agreement."
The parliaments in Strasbourg and Kiev adopted the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on Tuesday.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's refusal to sign the agreement last November sparked protests which led to him fleeing the country.
