US officials claim 4 Russian misslies launched from Caspian Sea lands in Iran.

Two U.S. officials told CNN on Thursday that some of cruise missiles that Russian ships in Caspian sea launched to hit the targets in Syria crashed in Iran.

According to the report U.S. military and intelligence have found out "at least four missiles crashed as they flew over Iran."

The officials did not clarify where in Iran the missiles landed and whether there were casualties or not. Pentagon declined to comment on the report.

Russia's Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced Wednesday that four Russian Navy warships have launched a total of 26 missiles into Syria.

The missiles launched are called "Caliber" which can fly for about 1,500 km before hitting their targets, according to Russian Defense Ministry.

The missiles fired from Caspian sea to Syria crossed Iranian and Iraqi airspace.

Russian Defense Ministry claimed Wednesday that Moscow planned the flight route to pass only over desolate areas so that they don't pose any danger to civilians.

Neither did Russian nor Iranian authorities confirm the report, according to Iranian semi-official FARS news agency. - Washington DC
