The Head of the Kremlin's Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, will arrive in Cairo on Sunday for a two-day visit at an invitation from Egyptian National Security Advisor, Fayza Abul-Naga, the Egyptian presidency has said.
It added in a statement on Saturday that during his visit to Egypt, Patrushev will meet with a host of Egyptian officials, including President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.
The visit of the Russian official is considered important in that it comes only a short time after Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Egypt.
The presidency said in its statement that talks between Patrushev and Egyptian officials would focus on issues of mutual concern, including political and security issues and latest developments in the Middle East region.
