National athlete Şahika Ercümen aims to improve her own world record by diving 107 meters in the variable weight no fins category on October 17 in Kaş, Antalya. In her statement, Ercümen said, "We hear the silent cry of our brothers and sisters who are suffocated by hunger and oppression in Gaza. Sport Toto Sports Club athlete, national diver, and United Nations 'Advocate for Life Below Water' Şahika Ercümen aims to improve her own world record by diving to a depth of 107 meters (approximately the height of a 40-story building) in the variable weight no fins category in Kaş on October 17.
WORLD RECORD FOR 'GAZA'
Şahika Ercümen stated that this year's dive will not only add a new depth to sports history but will also carry a strong message of peace and solidarity, expressing her feelings before the record attempt with the following words:
''LET GAZA BREATHE''
"In honor of the 102nd anniversary of our Republic, I am uniting my breath with the strength of my country. We hear the silent cry of our brothers and sisters in Gaza, whose breath is taken away by hunger and oppression. I hope that Gaza can breathe, and that darkness will turn to light. We will continue to keep hope alive through sports, nature, and resilience."
