Salafist Group Claims Attack On Gaza French Center

A shadowy Salafist group has claimed responsibility for a bomb attack that targeted a French cultural center in Gaza City last Friday.



In a video posted on several Salafist websites, the Jund Ansar Allah group claimed responsibility for the attack, displaying an explosive device that it claimed to have used in last week's bombing.



The authenticity of the video could not be independently verified, while the Palestinian Interior Authorities have yet to issue a comment.



The French cultural center in western Gaza City caught fire late Friday after an explosion went off inside the premises.



The blast came after the French Senate (the upper house of France's parliament) on Thursday approved a resolution calling on the government to recognize a Palestinian state on pre-1967 borders in a symbolic, non-binding vote.



Friday's bombing was the second to target the French cultural center. A similar blast rocked the building on October 8.
