Saudi Court Jails 14 People For 'Terrorism'

A Saudi court on Wednesday slapped 14 people with jail terms ranging between six months and 23 years on terrorism charges.



The defendants are part of 41 people being tried on charges of forming a "terrorist" cell to carry out attacks against U.S. troops in neighboring Qatar.



The court found the 14 suspects guilty of joining a terrorist cell that sought to carry out terrorist attacks against U.S. troops in Qatar and recruiting people to fight in Iraq, the official Saudi news agency reported.



The verdicts can, however, be appealed within 30 days, the Saudi news agency said. 



The same court on Tuesday jailed 13 people, including 11 Saudis, a Qatari and an Afghani, on similar charges.
