Soldier Killed In Clash With PKK Laid To Rest

A funeral service was held in İstanbul on Friday for gendarmerie first lieutenant Rahim Çelik, who was killed a clash with the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Şırnak.

Large numbers of people including Parliament Speaker İsmail Kahraman, İstanbul Governor Vesip Şahin and many other military officials, attended the funeral prayer for Çelik, who was father to five-month-old twins, at Pendik Sahil Yolu Mosque.

Family members of the soldiers burst into tears. Military officials tried to sooth mother Binaver Çelik and father Güngör Çelik.

Following the ceremony, the funeral of the martyr was taken to the cemetery by the crowd for burial.
