The co-chair of the HDP parliamentary group, Sezai Temelli, stated in a live broadcast that the expected amendment to the penal code to be presented to the Turkish Grand National Assembly would only cover sick detainees and convicts. Temelli also added that they expect the amendment to be submitted to the Justice Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly today.

DEM Party Group Deputy Chairman Sezai Temelli made statements following the tour of political parties in the Parliament. Temelli, who participated in the broadcast of İlke TV, stated that they expect the execution regulation to come to the TBMM Justice Commission today.

Temelli expressed that this proposal will only include a regulation covering sick detainees and convicts.

"THE REAL REGULATION WILL BE MADE IN LATER PACKAGES"

Temelli, who said, "There is no significant change regarding execution in this execution package. Unfortunately, the government did not take such a step," stated, "Despite our intense work, our proposals, and consultations, they said that a real execution regulation would be made in the following packages."

"THERE WILL ONLY BE A REGULATION FOR SICK PEOPLE"

Temelli stated, "They said that other execution regulations were postponed to autumn due to certain risks. We will see a regulation regarding sick prisoners in the package. Unfortunately, we will not be able to see the expected execution regulation beyond that," he expressed. Temelli also mentioned that there is a possibility for the regulation to be enacted before the holiday.

A delegation consisting of DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, and DEM Party Group Deputy Chairpersons Gülüstan Kılıç Koçyiğit and Sezai Temelli visited the AK Party TBMM Group Presidency.

The meeting between AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala, AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Özlem Zengin, and the DEM Party delegation lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes.

In a written statement made by the DEM Party, it was noted that a comprehensive exchange of ideas regarding the developments in Turkey and the region took place during the meeting with the AK Party delegation. In this context, the developments following the Peace and Democratic Society Call, Turkey's democratization process, the DEM Party İmralı Delegation's meeting with terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, the congress decisions announced by the organization on May 12, and the subsequent developments were discussed. The statement included the following expressions:

"In the meeting, steps that need to be taken for the healthy progress of the process and the role that the Parliament will undertake were also discussed, and mutual evaluations regarding the commission to be established were made. In the meeting, the expectations of the society and our party regarding the execution package, regulations concerning sick prisoners, and the enactment of these regulations before the holiday were clearly expressed."
