Before the critical Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby in the Super League, Sergen Yalçın criticized Fenerbahçe's potential lineup. Yalçın claimed, "This squad cannot win," referring to the expected starting eleven of Fenerbahçe. He also stated that Galatasaray would have the advantage going into the match, and if Fenerbahçe were to win, they would gain psychological superiority.
Before the critical derby to be played between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, Sergen Yalçın made striking statements on Ekol TV.
"IT WILL BE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MATCH"
Sergen Yalçın emphasized that the derby is not an ordinary league match, stating, "The previous matches are not a prediction for this match. This is a completely different match. It is currently the most important match of the season for both sides and it will significantly affect the following positions." he said.

Evaluating the outcome of the derby, Yalçın expressed that Galatasaray will have the advantage on the field, saying, "In my opinion, their chances of winning the championship are 90 to 10. Therefore, Galatasaray has this advantage, they will play for a draw. This is very important for a coach. So they will play with a 75% chance. I think this is very important." he stated.
Yalçın noted that if Fenerbahçe wins, they will gain psychological superiority, saying, "If Fenerbahçe wins, their chances of winning the championship will be 51 percent. Psychological superiority, fixture advantage... Fenerbahçe will take a 51 percent lead if they win." he expressed.

Evaluating the appointment of a foreign referee for the derby, Sergen Yalçın said he supports the TFF's decision. Yalçın stated, "We won't talk about the referee, that's the best part. The foreign referee is probably a very strong referee. Whether the referee gave a penalty, a yellow card, or a red card, no one will talk about it. The guy will already take a flight in the morning and leave." he said.
