Suicide Attackers Hit Government Office İn Ne Afghanistan

27.10.2014 13:04

– 4 militants attack provincial judicial offices in northeastern Afghan province of Kunduz.

A group of militants strapped with explosives have attacked a provincial government office in the northeastern Afghan province of Kunduz on Monday.

According to provincial police spokesperson Sayed Sarwar Hussaini, four militants are believed to have carried out the attack, dressed in Afghan security forces uniforms.

A police officer at the scene told the Anadolu Agency, on condition of anonymity, that three police and one civilian have been killed.

The attack began when one of the militants detonated his explosives at the entrance to the department of prosecution, allowing for the others to follow.

"Security forces have surrounded the office and cordoned off the entire roads ending to the site. We use all the ways to enter the building and shoot them down, while we try to avoid civilian casualties. The fighting between rebels and police continues in the office building," Hussaini told the Anadolu Agency.

While police have evacuated some staff, including the prosecution department's head, others working in the building are stranded.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack but Taliban militants have carried out similar attacks on Afghan judicial institutions and staff.

An attack on a courthouse in the western Farah province killed 53 people and injured 100 others in 2013.
