Suicide Mosque Attack Leaves 15 Dead İn Syria

Fifteen people were killed and 20 others were injured on Friday evening when a suicide bomber detonated his explosive belt inside a mosque in Idlib province's Ariha town, an opposition group said.



The Syrian Revolution General Commission said in a statement that the mosque attack took place during Iftar (Ramadan evening breakfast) that was set up by the Nusra Front group.



According to the commission, the death toll included a number of Nusra Front's members while the injured were taken to nearby field hospitals for treatment.



The Istanbul-based Syrian Revolution General Commission is a coalition of Syrian political and media groups opposed to the Assad regime.



Syrian opposition factions, including Nusra Front, under the joint military command of Jaysh al-Fatah had seized control of Idlib city in March 2014.



Syria's civil war, which has left the country in ruins, was triggered by a bloody crackdown on peaceful protests by the Assad regime in 2011.



The conflict displaced half the population, with nearly four million Syrians seeking refuge in neighboring countries, mostly in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq. - Suriye
