Containing yellow powder, envelopes which were sent to Canadian, German and Belgian consulates on Friday in İstanbul caused panic among consulate officials.
Consulate officials informed the police just after the incident. Arriving at the scenes, police evacuated three consulates and teams from the Chemical, Biological, Radiologic and Nuclear (KBRN) within the body of the the Prime Ministry's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) went to the consulate to conduct search.
The AFAD released a written statement on the incident saying that one person was directly exposed to the suspicious substance while six others were exposed indirectly. The statement also said samples taken from the consulates were sent to laboratories for further inspection.
The search conducted by the KBRN is still ongoing. Developments will be followed.
