Syrians weary of war have received 3 million loaves of bread from the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation's bakery since the beginning of Ramadan, an IHH spokesman said.
About 170,000 Syrian war victims get daily loaves of bread from IHH's bakery in Reyhanli, a town in Hatay Province that is eight kilometers from the Syrian border, the spokesman, Burak Karacaoglu, said.
"We intensified our work with Ramadan," said Karacaoğlu, "Since the beginning of Ramadan, we distributed 3 million bread loaves in total to tent cities in Aleppo and Idlib near the border."
He said that the foundation has delivered around 75 million loaves in total in 15 months and their target is to reach five million bread loaves per month. He also said that the bread is financed by various donors, both domestic and international.
"The war continues for four years, and the government forces target bakeries," Karacaoglu said. "The bread supply seriously decreased so people have difficulty in finding bread."
The IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has worked in Syria since March 2011 to provide shelter, food and health care for those who are displaced within the country and Syrian refugees.
