Eight people were killed and tens of others wounded Wednesday in Syrian regime barrel bomb attacks on Kansafra and al-Bara villages in the Zawiya Mountain area of the northwestern province of Idlib.
The death toll included four women.
Although the villages of Kansafra and al-Bara do not contain any armed opposition, it was still attacked by the Syrian regime.
A neighborhood in al-Bara village was completely destroyed, leaving many families homeless.
The two villages were relatively safe compared to other areas of Idlib, and used to be a destination for displaced families from other villages.
The Syrian civil war has resulted in the death of 350,000 people and displaced almost half of the country's population since March 2011.
