Syrian Opposition Comes Together In İstanbul Meeting

The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces came together on Thursday for a three-day meeting in İstanbul.

The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces came together on Thursday for a three-day meeting in İstanbul. During the meetings, a number of important issues such as electing a new leader for the coalition after Moaz al-Khatib, and the members to the new cabinet of the transitional government which hoped to be established in Syria will be discussed.



Moaz al-Khatib, former head of National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, the Vice President George Sabra and many other senior members of the coalition were present at the meeting which is reported to be continued for 3 days.



Khalid al-Salih, the press consultant for the coalition, has said that it is still not clear whether or not the Syrian opposition will attend the upcoming Geneva talks, adding that they will also address this issue during the meetings. "We still do not know who will participate in the Geneva II conference. The US and Russia are talking about a political solution which is we also want. We want a democratic transitional government to be established without Assad." stated Khalid al Salih.
