Syrian Shots Taken To Turkey's Border Patrol

Eight to ten shots were taken Wednesday from the Syrian side towards Turkey's Border Patrol Team on border duty in the Syrian Afrin district, the Turkish General Staff said. 



The General Staff confirmed that one jeep and one pickup truck approached the Afrin borderline in Turkey's Kilis province bordering Syria on Tuesday. Following this development, the border patrol was sent to the area, where two of the vehicles fled towards Duruca village after noticing the team. 



The team noticed that the border zone fence was broken and as they were repairing it, a group of three to four people from the Syrian side opened fire on them. The border team retaliated and the group fled the scene, the statement said.



Additionally, one Turkish citizen was injured on Wednesday in an attack from the Syrian side on Turkey's Mediterrenean Hatay city's Altinozu district close to the Syrian border.



The injured Turkish citizen was released from Antakya's state hospital after receiving medical treatment.
