Ten people have been injured and hundreds left without power after a fierce winter storm swept through the Dalmatian coast of Croatia.
Homes across the municipality of Podstrana, between the city of Split and town of Omis, were left without electricity after grid wires and poles were brought down and others broken as winds of more than 200 kilometers-an-hour struck the region.
Islands were cut off from the mainland as ferry services were cancelled and trucks and commercial vehicles travelling from Dalmatian were prevented from reaching the interior.
In Split, two ships were stranded at the port of the second-largest city in Croatia.
Schoolchildren were told to remain at home in the town of Knin after the roofs of two elementary schools were damaged by high winds.
One person died in a landslide in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
