After Jhon Duran's departure from Fenerbahçe, it was planned to assign the vacant number 10 jersey to Asensio. The yellow-navy management officially applied to the federation in this regard, but the request was rejected due to the prohibition of jersey number changes during the season. Fenerbahçe Football Branch Responsible Ertan Torunoğulları also made a statement regarding the issue.

Marco Asensio, who transferred to the Super League giant Fenerbahçe at the beginning of the season, has won the admiration of all football fans, both biased and unbiased, with his goals and assists, but an unfortunate development has occurred for the Spanish player.

Fenerbahçe Club applied to the TFF for the number 10 jersey to be given to Marco Asensio after the departure of their Colombian player Jhon Duran to Zenit.
