The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) has made a new decision regarding online dating and video chat applications. Access has been restricted to 29 platforms, including Azar, LivU, and Tango.
THEY WERE CLOSED BY COURT DECISION
According to information reported by Engelli Web, the access restriction decision was approved by the Ankara 3rd and 4th Peace Criminal Courts. As part of the decision, popular applications such as Azar, LivU, and Tango, which are widely used among young people, were also blocked from access.
SIMILAR DECISIONS HAD BEEN MADE BEFORE
In the past, BTK had also issued restriction decisions for similar applications. For example, Tango's tango.me domain was blocked on December 11, 2024, by a decision of the Ankara 1st Peace Criminal Court, and IMVU's imvu.com address was blocked on November 2, 2024, by a decision of the Ankara 3rd Peace Criminal Court.

With the latest decisions, the restrictions imposed on online video chat and dating applications in Turkey have expanded further. Some of the 29 platforms that have been restricted include:

Recently, an investigation conducted particularly regarding the Azar application had raised claims that this platform would be blocked. With the new decisions, these claims have now become official.
