WHAT HAPPENED?

Gürel, who left her home in the Gültepe neighborhood of Kağıthane on Sunday, March 2, saying she would go for a walk in Belgrad Forest, went missing, prompting a large-scale search operation involving numerous search and rescue teams after her relatives reported her disappearance.

Gürel's mobile phone and some personal belongings were found during the search efforts conducted in Belgrad Forest on March 4.

As a result of the teams' four-day efforts, Gürel was found in a steep forested area at 01:15 on March 6, and was treated in the intensive care unit of Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, but unfortunately passed away despite all interventions. Gürel's funeral was held after the afternoon prayer at the Güneşli Central Mosque in Bağcılar and she was buried in Kocasinan Cemetery.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into Gürel's death, and in this context, her mother, father, husband, and friend were questioned as "informants." An investigation was also initiated by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding Hale Ö., who made statements on a social media channel claiming to have educated Gürel.

Hale Ö., who was detained on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information," "qualified fraud," and "violating the tax procedure law," was released with a judicial control decision of "prohibition of leaving the country."

The investigation into Gürel's death is ongoing.
