The English club announced that a 2+1 year contract has been signed with the 48-year-old Bosnian coach.

Kayserispor, which Sergej Jakirovic took over in the middle of the past season, finished the Super League in 13th place with 45 points. Hull City, owned by Turkish businessman Acun Ilıcalı, managed to stay in the league by goal difference last season.
After the announcement of Sergej Jakirovic, Acun Ilıcalı stated that he trusts the Bosnian coach and said, "We believe in the football he will bring us, and more importantly, he is a proven coach who has shown he is a winner throughout his career."
