After the terrorist organization PKK announced that it would hold its congress from May 5 to 7, all eyes turned to the announcement of the dissolution decision. In statements regarding the issue, the President's Chief Advisor on Foreign Policy and Security, Kılıç, said, "The point we have reached now is that the decision will be announced soon. Opposition figures are asking questions like 'What was given, is there a concession?' There is neither a concession nor a negotiation."
After the call made by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan on February 27, the expected statement came yesterday. The PKK announced that it held its congress from May 5 to 7.
In the statement, it was noted, "The 12th Congress of the PKK was successfully held between May 5 and 7. Comprehensive and detailed information and documents regarding the results of the PKK's 12th congress will be shared with the public very soon after the results from two different areas are combined." While there is great curiosity about when the dissolution decision will be announced, the President's Chief Advisor on Foreign Policy and Security, Akif Çağatay Kılıç, made evaluations regarding the issue.
"THE IMPORTANT THING IS FIRST AND FOREMOST THE ABANDONMENT OF WEAPONS"
In response to questions from Hakan Çelik on CNN TÜRK, Kılıç stated: "Of course, we see a continuing process, and we are all watching. Some statements and discussions are already topics reflected in the public. But what is important here is primarily the abandonment of weapons. There should be no actions taken with weapons in any way. Terrorism should proceed correctly with the process that our President has named as the Terror-Free Turkey goal. Of course, there will be difficult times from time to time. But decisively, every society, the world, our neighbors, and especially our citizens expect to live in a Turkey where there is no threat of terrorism within security. Of course, one of the fundamental elements of this is a determined fight against terrorism, which we have already demonstrated. A determined and patient process is being managed.
"THERE IS NEITHER A CONCESSION NOR A BARGAIN"
The point we have reached now is that the congress has convened and the decision will be announced soon. Let it not be understood from here that opposition figures are asking questions like 'What was given, is there a concession?' There is neither a concession nor a bargain.
