Turkey is waiting for good news about architect Ece Gürel, who went missing in Istanbul on March 2. While search efforts continue for Gürel, who was last seen in Belgrad Forest, her family made new claims during a live broadcast. The family believes that the jacket was left by someone else. Meanwhile, in the case covered by Müge Anlı, the Native American message behind the statement "My soul is left behind" has come to light.
Ece Gürel (36), who left her home in the Gültepe neighborhood of Kağıthane on Sunday, March 2, saying she would go to Belgrad Forest, has been the subject of search efforts initiated after her relatives reported her missing. The search operations are ongoing with the participation of police, AFAD, UMKE, AKUT, and numerous search and rescue teams from various district municipalities. Divers from the Istanbul Fire Department Underwater Search and Rescue (İSAK) are also conducting dives at the Valide Sultan Dam.
ITEMS FOUND
While the teams continued their search efforts with infrared drones, some personal items were detected in the inner parts of the forest. In response, crime scene investigation teams dispatched to the area found several personal belongings, including a mobile phone, a jacket, and a bag. The items, believed to belong to Gürel, were taken to the police for examination. Teams were also directed to different locations to conduct broader search efforts.
THE JACKET DOES NOT BELONG TO THE YOUNG WOMAN
It was claimed that a jacket belonging to Gürel was found in an area 14 kilometers away from where her mobile phone and some personal belongings were discovered. Ece Gürel's husband, Sezer Gürel, stated that the jacket did not belong to his wife.
SHOCKING CLAIM FROM THE FAMILY
Sezer Gürel, Ece Gürel's husband, who appeared on Müge Anlı's TV program, noted that the jacket found was carefully folded. The family, who participated in the live broadcast, claimed that the items were found after yesterday's broadcast and expressed their suspicion that someone had left the jacket.
The cleanliness of the jacket found in the forest raised suspicions, while Sezer Gürel mentioned that their relationship was strained due to work, and that his wife had invited him to the forest, but he did not go.
THE MESSAGE "MY SOUL IS LEFT BEHIND" REVEALED A NATIVE AMERICAN MESSAGE
Müge Anlı, who stated that underwater search operations had also begun, conveyed the Native American belief behind Ece's last message during the broadcast. Anlı explained that Gürel's words, "My soul is left behind," are a phrase used by Native Americans when they are very tired and need to rest. While reading Ece Gürel's last messages live yesterday, Müge Anlı revealed the secret behind that message today. Anlı stated, "According to Native American belief, when they are very tired and need to rest, it is thought that their bodies speed up, and their souls cannot catch up with their bodies. For this reason, they feel the need to rest by saying, 'My soul is left behind.'"
BLOOD TRAILS?
It was reported that a structure resembling a blood trail was also found in the area.
The reason for searching in the pond is that a witness saw a dog entering the pond on the day Ece Gürel went missing. However, it was learned that there was a distance between Ece Gürel's jacket and the pond.
"WE THINK SHE IS ALIVE"
Sarıyer Mayor Mustafa Oktay Aksu made hopeful statements regarding the search efforts, saying, "Right now, we think she is alive. Some materials we found indicate this. The searches are ongoing, and we are very hopeful."
MESSAGES EMERGED
It was determined that Gürel had been messaging with her friends in England and sharing photos from Belgrad Forest, and her last messages have also emerged.
"I SAT DOWN, MY SOUL IS LEFT BEHIND"
Gürel, who messaged a friend saying, "This place has become crowded, I couldn't find the main place," was found to have written "I got lost." Later, it was recorded that Gürel, who was also found to have sent a photo, wrote, "I sat down, my soul is left behind." It was determined that her friend wrote, "Good job, Gürel. I also went to the market. You're great, dear," but Gürel did not see the "I got lost" message and replied, "I just saw that you said you got lost, isn't your navigation on your phone?"
THERE WAS A PROBLEM AT WORK
Gürel emphasized that her husband graduated from the Faculty of Forestry and knows the Belgrad Forests, saying, "Before my friends arrived, I tried to search a bit. Searches are being conducted with K9 dogs. There was a problem related to the workplace during the last snowfall. He was working at a law office. Resignation was on the table."
