The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, announced that they will place tax officials at the entrances and exits of cities. TOBB President and Member of the Board of the Turkey Wealth Fund, Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, responded to Şimşek's project on his social media account.
Emphasizing that they are not against tax audits, Hisarcıklıoğlu also highlighted that the tax system should be fair and transparent.

In Hisarcıklıoğlu's social media post, he stated, "We are not against tax audits. We support the fight against the informal economy. The tax system should be fair and transparent. It should not discourage the entrepreneurial spirit. Tax revenues cannot be increased by placing tax officials at the door of every business and factory, and by taking police measures. Justice cannot be achieved this way," he said.
WHAT DID MINISTER ŞİMŞEK SAY?
Minister Şimşek responded to a question about tax audits by saying, "There is no sector we have not started an investigation on. We started with the very large ones first. Those who engage in informal production and sales... We do not want to conduct audits and impose fines, but we have also talked with our colleagues. The teams will be strengthened. We will place tax officials at the entrances and exits of all organized industrial zones and all markets. We will place permanent tax officials at the entrances and exits of all metropolitan cities and main arteries," he said.
