RESPONSE FROM CHP LEADER ÖZEL
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also reacted to the detention of Beykoz Mayor Köseler. Özel stated, "The operations initiated against elected mayors after the March 31 local elections stem from the panic of a political party that has lost its local power after 20 years in the eyes of the public and its leaders knowing that they will lose their 22-year central power in the first election."
"THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO CONTRADICT THE PEOPLE'S PREFERENCES"
The detention of our Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler in the early morning is nothing but an attempt to contradict the will of the people and their preferences through a judiciary that you have turned into an instrument of revenge.
"WE WILL WORK DAY AND NIGHT UNTIL JUSTICE IS DELIVERED"
Everyone should know that; the Palace regime may be trying to intimidate and suppress everyone in the fear-based order it has created, but we will not be intimidated, we will not give up. Our party, which draws its strength from the will of our people and the determination of our delegates at our first Congress, the Sivas Congress, will not bow to this fear-based order, this Palace regime, and we will work day and night until we bring freedom of expression, democracy, freedoms, and justice for all 86 million citizens," he stated.
