The Syrian army neutralized a group of PKK/SDF terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Tel Abyad region last night. The incident is interpreted as a new escalation in the ongoing tension between the Damascus government and the PKK/SDF in northern Syria.
TENSION RISES IN A CRITICAL AREA
Military sources stated that the Syrian army intervened by detecting members of the organization during an operation carried out on the Tel Abyad front. The region in question holds a critical position within the expanding military advance of the Damascus administration towards Raqqa and Hasakah.
ARMED TENSION HAS NOT COMPLETELY ENDED
This development occurred during a period when it was announced that the ceasefire agreement reached between the Syrian government and the PKK/YPG's Syrian extension, the SDF, was extended for another 15 days. Although the ceasefire aims to temporarily reduce tensions following increased clashes in northeastern Syria, it appears that armed tensions on the ground have not completely ended.
