Minister Yerlikaya shared the details of the operation on his social media account.
HANDCUFFS ON THE LEADER OF THE CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION
In his written statement, Yerlikaya used the following expressions: "The General Directorate of Security, in coordination with the Interpol Europol Department, the Intelligence Department, and the Department of Combating Smuggling of Migrants and Border Gates; as a result of the efforts of the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Smuggling of Migrants and Border Gates Branch, the location of Assad Ali Gomaa Khodır, the leader of the organized crime group facilitating illegal irregular migrant crossings to Italy, was identified, and he was captured in an operation conducted in Fatih, Istanbul." Yerlikaya congratulated the police teams that carried out the operation.
